Flowing in the Black River Gorges and originating from the river of St. Denis, the Chamarel Waterfall is the highest one on the island falling from a height of about 83m.
To reach the base of the waterfall, you will need to take an adventurous yet fun hike through the untouched tropical rain forest of the Black River Gorges. The paths are surrounded by dense forestry and the sounds of the various endemic and rare animals hangs in the air as a sweet melody. At the end of the trail you will be rewarded with what is considered to be the most breathtaking view of the island, as the waters fall from a height of 80 m into a natural pool. Enjoy the spray of the water and finish off such an exciting day by relaxing in the pool.
