Erected during the start of the 19th century, Fort Adelaide or Citadel as it is more commonly known, stands watch atop a hill overseeing the beautiful town of Port Louis. Constructed for the protection of the island from potential invaders as well as against any local uprising, Fort Adelaide is one of the best preserved forts on the island and offers a splendid panoramic view of Port Louis nestled at the foot of the Port Louis Moka range.
